Arrogant Bastard Beer | Sticky Storytelling
Posted: June 3rd, 2009 | Tags: Arrogant Bastard, Storytelling | No Comments »My favorite definition of Marketing according to Seth Godin is this; Marketing is storytelling. With that definition, this weeks Sticky Story Spotlight goes to the makers of Arrogant Bastard beer. The name says it all. This beer is for beer snobs. Being someone who likes to pretend like I know a lot about beer, I really like this.
Talk about a company finding their niche, they have “You’re Not Worthy” on the front of the bottle, and the back of the bottle continues with this description. -
” This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to a safer and more familiar territory — maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign…”
If that doesn’t make you curious enough to buy a pint, then maybe you should stick to a beer with a big ad campaign…
Tell a story, and watch as people that relate catch on and follow you. Be bold, don’t try to hit everyone, or you will hit no one. Happy story telling!
