must read pt. 1

this will be the first post of a series of an indefinite length about books that i read and you should read too. i am not one of those people that tells you to read something just so i can brag about reading another book, so i vow, here and now to recommend pertinent information. it will be anything from business books, to music, to jesus books.

so here we go.

zag – marty neumeier

when everyone else zigs, zag. a great tagline, and one that they actually back up with the information in the book. this book commits to the need for all businesses to radically differentiate themselves in the marketplace. it is a nod to a textbook of mine from college of blue ocean strategy. a book that encourages the open water of uncontested market space, over the bloody water of over-crowded, and “done before” businesses.

great book, easy read. loved the format. 1-2 day read.

i’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the book… “the road to hell is paved with good strategy.”
